Why Catholic Education

In today’s world, the importance of a Catholic education feels more meaningful than ever. As a parent, I’ve found that as my youngest son has grown older, at St. Francis of Assisi School we have come to value even more the moral courage and faith foundation it provides when difficult choices arise. As educators and families, we share a mission to support our students not only in their learning, but also in their faith and personal growth.

When the question arises, why a Catholic education and why St. Francis of Assisi School, the answer is faith formation, our culture of acceptance, and our teachers. What makes Catholic education at St. Francis of Assisi School is so special is the way students and teachers walk this journey together. In our classrooms, we openly explore the difference between what is popular and what is right, always through the lens of faith. This creates a caring and supportive environment where students feel safe to reflect, ask questions, and grow in confidence.

At St. Francis of Assisi School, we are passionate about helping young people build a genuine and lasting relationship with God and their families, while developing the strong moral foundations that guide them through life. Each day, students face choices—some small, others more challenging—and a Catholic education helps them develop the confidence and values to choose what is right, even when it is not the easiest choice. This is reflected in everyday school life: using social media responsibly, speaking respectfully, and treating others with kindness and dignity, as well as navigating friendships and peer pressure as they grow.

Our faith formation begins early in our preschool and primary years, where children are gently introduced to God’s love and the importance of kindness, respect, and service. These foundations are then strengthened throughout middle and high school, where students continue to deepen their understanding of faith and values. Our teachers consistently model compassion, integrity, and respect, showing students that there is always a better way to treat one another—guided by love and faith.

“And for all of us, clergy, religious and laity, providing that education is far more than a job. It’s a higher calling.”
