Signature Programs

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program: Saint Francis has taken the lead as the first Catholic school in the Baltimore area to be authorized to offer this world-class program.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: In a Montessori-based format, students in Preschool through 2nd grade spend time each week in a retreat-like setting where they work with hands-on materials to learn more about scripture, liturgy, and prayer.

Environmental Science Classes: At St. Francis of Assisi, we believe in the power of learning beyond the classroom. Our students actively engage with nature, gaining hands-on experience that fosters a deep appreciation for the environment. Each week, Grades 1st through 5th students visit Herring Run Creek, where they explore water quality, stream health, and forest ecology. Our wooded areas provide the perfect backdrop for lessons on the life cycles of plants, and our hill trails offer opportunities to practice outdoor safety and etiquette. In addition to exploring the creek and woods, students tend to our on-campus pollinator garden, learning about the importance of supporting local ecosystems. Through our outdoor education program, we strive to inspire a lifelong love and respect for the natural world, teaching students to both appreciate and care for the environment that surrounds them.

Piano and Band Lessons: We offer piano and band music classes for all grades help students learn the basics of musical notation, rhythm, simple instruments, and singing.

1:1 Chromebook Program: Middle School students at SFA use personal Chromebooks in all their classes on a regular basis.

STEM and 3-D Printing: We are proud to be part of the Archdiocesan initiative to bring 3-D printing into the schools and to infuse all classrooms with a STEM-based Science program.

Robotics: We are partnered with the Baltimore Robotics Club to bring hands-on Robotics education into our IB Design course curriculum.
